License Renewal

DORA has announced that mental health licenses, including the LSW and LCSW, are due for renewal by August 31st, 2017. In order to maintain an Active status, and to avoid a late fee, you must renew prior to 08/31/2017. If you do not renew your license prior to 08/31/2017 you will have a 60 day grace period before your license will be deemed expired. A $15 late fee will apply to all licenses renewed during the grace period. To renew, go here to the DORA website and follow the prompts to access the Online Renewal Service.

40 CPD Hours Due with License Renewal

As part of the license renewal process, LSWs and LCSWs must complete 40 Continuing Professional Development Hours every two years. See more info on the CPD page of the website.

Discussion Forums Open

A forum is a feature through the Chapter Website that enables participants to share information and communicate quickly and directly with one another via a “post” or a “reply”. The newest forum is on Clinical Consultation and helps members find a Peer Consult Group or a Paid Consultant.

Navigate to the forums page from the Events News drop-down menu. The four forums currently open are:

  • Licensure Questions – Ask about the LSW or LCSW, exams, supervision and more for the guidance you need

Professional Development Resources

Chapter CE Approved Providers

Continuing Education Approved Providers are not offered directly by NASWCO but are approved by the Chapter to award CE Credits to participants. CE credits may be utilized for DORA Continued Professional Development (CPD) requirements for license renewal.

Chapter Info Sessions

The Chapter provides info sessions on the LSW/LCSW License Process, the Jurisprudence Exam, and on CPD Requirements. Free for members and $75 for non-members. All three titles are available by recording so you may watch on your own time, as often as you like, from your own computer. Sign up via the Services/Store page. (FYI, these titles cannot be used as CPD hours.)

Chapter Professional Education Trainings

These educational trainings are provided directly by the Chapter. They are open to all social workers and other mental health professionals, members and nonmembers. Earn Professional Development Hours to meet DORA license renewal requirements, CECs are provided. For details and to register click on the title.

Professional Education and Training Center

NASW and Assurance Services, Inc. is pleased to sponsor the PETC. This online educational platform for professionals in social work provides convenient 24 hour access to quality continuing education. Depending on your interests, it’s actually possible to take courses with fees that would be equal to your membership dues!

NASW Journals

Earn CPD Hours by reading Journals produced by the NASW Press, which are among the most highly cited in the social services. See available Journals such as: Social Work, Children Schools, Health Social Work, Social Work Research, and Social Work Abstracts. For information on CPD requirements and the types of allowable activities go here.
